WIU Partners with QCML to offer Additive Manufacturing Course in the School of Engineering

In Spring of 2019, the School of Engineering at Western Illinois University will be offering a new course created by Dr. Eric Faierson, ENGR 440: Additive Manufacturing. The content of the course is geared to both undergraduate engineering students and those in the workforce looking to better understand Additive Manufacturing and how it can be used in their company. The course will be offered Tuesday evenings from 5-7:30pm. Within the next couple weeks the course should appear in the master course catalog at WIU and be open for enrollment.

Some of the topics that the course will cover include:

Introduction and Basic Principles of Additive Manufacturing
Additive Manufacturing Technologies, Process Chain, and Software
Photopolymerization Processes
Extrusion-Based Systems
Powder Bed Fusion Processes
Direct Energy Deposition Processes
Design for Additive Manufacturing
Material and Binder Jetting
Sheet Lamination Processes
Direct Write Technologies
Additive Manufacturing Process Selection
Additive Manufacturing Post-processing
Qualification and Certification of AM parts
